Alternative Energies Field Trip: Nuclear & Wind
(click on above link for flyer with agenda)

The Science Teachers Association of New York State (STANYS), Central Section, is pleased to present an ALTERNATIVE ENERGIES FIELD TRIP on Friday, June 27, 2008, to science teachers across the state.

Global climate change may possibly be the greatest challenge of this century. Many scientists believe the cause for the current climate changeis due to energy usage; in particular, fossil-fuel burning, and it is believed alternative energies may be the answer. Alternative energy is energy provided from sources other than fossil fuels; such as nuclear energy and wind energy. Nuclear energy and wind energy do not pollute the air and help to protect our environment, as well as provide alternative sources of power. Central STANYS invites you to join us as we explore these two state-of-the-art NYS facilities to learn about the benefits of alternative energy and how it may help reduce the effects of global climate change.
