Building a Presence for Science is the largest networking initiative of the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA). The award-winning program is designed to improve the teaching and learning of science from kindergarten through 12th grade. NSTA is the world’s largest organization dedicated to the improvement of science teaching and learning. Major funding for Building a Presence for Science is provided by the Exxon Mobil Foundation.

The mission of Building a Presence for Science is to end the isolation of classroom science teachers and to provide them with professional development opportunities and science teaching resources.

The goals of the program are to:

Building a Presence for Science networks are being implemented and established in the following states. Key Leaders in each state and a Point of Contact for science in every public and private school form the network. The program brings standards-based teaching and learning into schools in participating states and helps teachers implement the National Science Education Standards (NSES) in conjunction with state science standards.
