The workshop is directed by geologists from the State Museum and includes four fieldtrips addressing the geologic history of New York State . Finger Lakes Ecology Educators Workshop: Finger Lakes Institute and Montezuma Audubon Center. This 2 -1/2 day workshop is for environmental educators that want to incorporate information and facts about the Finger Lakes into their lessons. Participants will be engaged in several interesting handson activities taken from a variety of curriculum including Project Wet, Citizen Science for Birding, and the Finger Lakes Institute’s My Place in the Finger Lakes lessons. Participants will participate in 2-3 field trips including a visit to a state park, local vineyard, and canoe trip through Montezuma wetlands complex. They will receive Project Wet certification and
curriculum as well as a number of lesson activities to bring home. Fee = $200 includes food, lodging, canoe trip and field expenses

Stalking Science in the Adirondacks: This one-week intensive field course is taught at Huntington Wildlife Forest, a campus of the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF) in Newcomb, N.Y. The year’s conservation topic will be “The Science of Journaling.”The program is open to any current science educator.  The five and a half-day program will run from Sunday evening July 13th, through Friday, July 18th.  The cost is $475 for the week, including meals and lodging.  Three hours of university credit are available for an additional $945.80.

CICT, Contemporary Chemistry for Teachers : Cornell Institute for Chemistry Teachers, Cornell - Designed specifically for high school chemistry teachers, the CCMR Institute for Chemistry Teachers (CICT) is a unique opportunity for professional development. The Institute currently offers a one-week course CHEM 501: Contemporary Chemistry for Teachers , for graduate credit. Participants meet 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Through lectures by Cornell faculty, hands-on laboratory activities and research facility tours, teachers gain a deeper understanding of the topics they teach and learn about current research in the field of chemistry. All accepted teachers will be awarded tuition, fees, a stipend and housing or local travel expenses if necessary. Participants will also receive laboratory materials to assist them in replicating the activities in their classrooms.
